Week 1: 1st hull--side panels, bulkheads and assembly

(Updated 10-13-2018)

--Building Minimus II

Side panels butt-blocked together.  Deck screws are used to clamp
butt block to hull panels.  Screws go through 1" square pieces of MDO
to keep the screw heads from indenting butt blocks.  After curing,
screws and blocks are removed and holes filled with epoxy putty
using a syringe.

Side panels are then flipped over, ready for two layers of biaxial tape.
(Prior to butt blocking, a power plane was used to remove the paper layer on
the ends of each side panel piece.  This allows the tape to be

slightly inset, reducing the amount of fairing needed.)
After flipping, a power plane is used to make
an additional inset for the first, narrower piece of tape.

Side panels taped and then faired with an epoxy and microballoon mix.
